Beautiful Amethyst Pendants Or Amethyst Necklaces

Since my birthday is February 3, I've always had an affinity for amethysts, which is the February birthstone. This particular gemstone is not only beautiful, but its purple hue looks great as a piece of jewelry. Purple is one of those colors that goes with almost anything, so I wear the amethyst necklace that my husband gave me with almost every outfit.

Amethysts are actually a type of quartz and were valued as gemstones in ancient times. The Greeks believed that amethysts protected people from intoxication, while European soldiers wore amethysts to protect them in battle.

I wear my amethyst necklace mainly as a good luck symbol since it was such a thoughtful gift from my husband. It makes me think of him when he's not around.

Amethyst pendants make wonderful gifts for any occasion: birthdays, Valentine's Day, anniversaries, Sweet sixteens, February birthdays ... pretty much any gift-giving day you can think of. Because these purple gemstones are so magnificent, they're sure to be appreciated by anyone who receives one. No wonder they've been revered for such a long time!

Yellow Gold Amethyst Pendants

Amethysts are already beautiful being such a deep purple color, but these gemstones look even more striking when paired against a yellow gold backdrop. The color combination makes sense; after all, yellow and purple are opposite each other on the color wheel and therefore, enhance one another.

A true lover of amethysts will adore the yellow gold faceted amethyst necklace. This gorgeous piece of jewelry not only has amethyst gemstones covering the entire strand, but has an eye-catching amethyst stone placed right in the center. The triple strand amethyst pendant is another great choice for jewelry lovers who want the full gemstone experience. Here, you have not one, not two, but three amazing strands adorned with these purple beauties. Imagine how great either of these amethyst necklaces would look paired with a simple dress; you'd want to, of course, bring everyone's eye to your exquisite amethyst jewels.

For those who prefer to keep things a bit more simple, the amethyst station necklace is a good pick. The slender 14 K strand is punctuated by rounded amethyst stones, fully bringing out that contrast between the gold and purple. Meanwhile, the teardrop shaped amethyst pendant features a lovely gemstone surrounded by gold trim. Another classic beauty!

White Gold Amethyst Pendants

I personally prefer white gold to yellow gold, though yellow gold is beautiful. With white gold, the amethyst gemstone is brought out in an entirely different way. Because the color is more subtle than yellow gold, the purple amethyst takes center stage. While the gold and yellow worked together, the white gold serves more as a backdrop to the amethyst stone.

The white gold amethyst teardrop pendant is adorned by stones making it shimmer and sparkle. This gorgeous piece of jewelry would look beautiful with a silver or black ensemble. Imagine how much this amethyst necklace would enhance a simple black cocktail dress? You could turn a casual look into a fancy one with just one piece of amethyst jewelry.

Meanwhile, the white gold amethyst and pink tourmaline pendants are simple, but chic. Though the amethyst stones are small, they're front and center in these elegant necklaces. The addition of the tiny pink stones gives the amethyst necklaces that extra bit of color to make them even more spectacular.

Amethyst Heart Necklaces

When it comes to jewelry, you can almost never go wrong if you give something that's heart shaped. Heart shaped jewelry means love or romance and the person who you give it to will know just how special she is to you. That said, a heart amethyst necklace or amethyst pendant is the perfect gift to give to someone who has a February birthday. Because it's shaped like a heart, it's also great for Valentine's Day (though make sure you give separate birthday and Valentines gifts -- trust this, coming from someone with a February birthday!).

Though amethyst heart necklaces all follow the same basic shape, there are many gorgeous varieties ranging from simple to eleborate. The yellow gold heart shaped amethyst pendant with diamond accent is an exquisite take on the heart shaped necklace. It's sure to take the breath away of whoever receivies it or wears it.

The simple amethyst heart pendants are also stand-outs and appropriately honor this amazing gemstome with their simple and elegant beauty.

Butterfly Amethyst Pendants

Butterfly amethyst pendants make great Valentine's Day gifts for little girls or for girls who celebrate a February birthday. Most children love chasing butterflies; these amethyst necklaces will allow them to capture the beauty of these creatures in gemstone.

Butterfly gemstone necklaces are a whimsical and fun take on jewelry and are also quite lovely to look at. The simple amethyst butterfly pendants would be loved by any girl who wishes to dress up like her mother, aunt or sister. It will give her the chance to wear a gemstone necklace or pendant, but it will look age appropriate.

Of course, butterfly pendants are wonderful for anyone who loves these creatures and wants to wear jewelry that's not in the standard shapes. These amethyst butterfly necklaces are sure to make any outfit look that more special.

Great Hub on amethyst pendants, NaomiR. I really like amethysts and have a ring and earrings set in silver. Maybe one day I will be given an amethyst pendant as a gift?
